Mask workshop
I went to a Venetian mask workshop last week, it was run by Kate Plumtree who is a costume designer (amongst other things). It was great fun. The mask base is made from mod rock (plaster bandage), then it is painted etc when dry. It was actually moulded on the face of a guy who works at the art gallery where the workshop was - he was press-ganged into being our model!! I think this on looks quite tribal and very masculine.

Autumn mini canvas
Art Raffle
The remit for this months Art Raffle on All things Crafty this month is "beads" , chosen by Claireabelle. I embossed the dragonfly, stencil by Papermania, onto metallic card (hence the bad shine on the scan!)coloured it with permanent markers and used beads to form the body. Around the dragonfly I added a coat of clear embossing powder to give a textured metal effect, added a wax seal and mounted the whole thing onto the front of a hand-made mini album.

Charms
Zoe on Lots to Do forum is running a "charms" swap . I was a bit stumped on this one but anyway.....................................the little copper tags were from my craft stash (I think they were a present from a fellow crafter ages ago) I coloured the background with blue permanent marker, added some Stickles turquoise glitter glue across the bottom , stuck on a little pink & white shell then covered the lot in 3D gloss.
Sorry about the rubbish picture - again!!
Make /alter a gift bag
August Swap Challenge on ATC forum is make or alter a gift bag. I made this one from some thick brown packing sheet using an old gift bag as a rough guide and added cord handles, heat embossed swirl stamping (Basic Grey) and some lovely layered flowers from Making Memeories. I finished it off with a die-cut gift tag and some wooden beads.

August variety swap
The item for the variety swap this month was some kind of atc holder - I decided to alter this box (it started life as a washing tablet box) to store atcs in. I covered it with some lovely paper - I think its Brenda Pinnick (but not 100% sure) and line the inside. I then brushed it over with Anitas 3D glaze, added a raffia "ribbon" and a Making Memories bookplate using rub-ons for the label.

Postcard swap
Andrea is hosting an ongoing postcard swap on LTD using the letters of the alphabet. So here is a b & c.....or c b & a! Anyway, A was created using a set from Serif digital scrapbooking, parts of which have been 3D'd, B has an inked background then ran a Versamark pad over sequin waste to get the pattern & embossed with white on one side adding the flag and the bear
(Cant remember where they came from so apologies!) C has a textures gold background , a chinese dragon image (again unknown source) printed the word China on the computer & added the "seal" which is made by stamping into hot embossing powder.

Swap Challenge - Wearable Art
For the July Swap Challenge on ATC forum - hosted by moi! - I decided we should make some wearable art. I chose to make this necklace. The heart is made of utee, the 2 holes made with a hot embossing tool (knew it would come in handy for something!) then strung onto a thin black lace. The round beads are wood except for the pearl ones and the long beads are made from paper (K&Co) which was cut into strips and rolled then brushed with glaze. The fastening is a wooden bead and loop.
